Jeff J. Scott Campbell Ruff Stuff Vol 2 Sketchbook Release

We did say this would be a great holiday season. Like all good things the 2012 Ruff Stuff Compilation comes with 2 books, Vol 2 being the second. My personal preference was actually this volume. Campbell tends to draw single characters and is excellent at doing it. The problem is with a standard horizontal book you don't get to see a lot of the  character detailing and an element of depth is missing. You'll understand what I mean when take a look at the full sketchbook below. This one was one of my favorite sketchbooks.

The J. Scott Campbell Ruff (rough) Stuff Vol 2 is here. The pair comes with a Horizontal and a Vertical version, each with their own individual sets of art. Volume 2 was the vertical version and in our opinion the nicer sketchbook, but we still highly recommend you get both it's worth the current 2012 pricing of $40-$50 for the pair. We'll try to not add to much commentary on this but just flipping through this there are so many subtle easter eggs in each page.

DO NOT ADJUST YOUR MONITOR this is the original colours of the pages they have a purple tinge to, which is all part of the Campbell style. Enjoy Click to Enlarge Images

Oz The great and Powerful Desktop Wallpaper from Wizard of Oz

It's Friday and for some Black FRIDAY DEALS are here :)

Well Hopefully we got this post out early enough for you to check out (weather you're waiting in line or just prepping the computer for some awesome online shopping).

Next March the prequel to the Classic Wizard of Oz is going to be released. Now I have no idea what to expect story wise or visually. So far from the trailers its looking interesting to say the least. Most of us here aren't huge fans of the Wizard of Oz but maybe Oz the great and powerful will draw us in. How are you readers feeling about a prequel? Leave your thoughts and if any of you have a source for catching up on the Oz universe leave a comment and we'll post it on the blog for our readers.

Enjoy the Wallpaper and leave a thought. This is a huge file and definitely a Hi-Def (HD) Wallpaper.

Jurassic Park 3D Desktop Wallpaper

As the title says this is Jurassic Park, sorry guys but the wallpaper isn't going to be in 3D, maybe there's a software to do that now. As for us we'll be sticking to just regular images for now.
Universal just released the trilogy of Jurassic Park on Blu-Ray not to long ago. Now they are going to re-release the movie into theaters... in 3D. To be honest it doesn't sound like they are doing anything innovative, but it does sure seem like a quick cash grab. I'm sure there will be a line-up of action figures to go along with it (most likely using the same molds they did when this movie first came to theaters).
The only good thing coming out of this would probably be a re-education of the generation that didn't grow up with Jurassic Park (hopefully growing the fan base). You think they'll do a Jurassic Park 4 or just maybe stretch with another trilogy? I'm hoping they don't make anymore (things some times just need to be left as they were) but it'll depend on how much cash flows into this re-release.
Anyways we aren't going to post the trailer for this because you've already seen it. But Enjoy the Wallpaper, It's got the updated "3D" logo on the top of the Park Gate

J. Jeff Scott Campbell Ruff Stuff Sketchbook Vol 1

November is here. Which mean gifts and the holiday season. We're Hoping to be delivering just as many reviews and gifts for our readers as well.

To kick it off, the 2012 J. Scott Campbell Ruff Stuff Vol. 1 Sketchbook. Like all of Campbell's sketchbooks this is a real treat of creativity and sketched art. Oft times we'll get the standard ashcan sized sketchbook. With Campbell this one is different like all his others.  When I asked him at this years 2012 Toronto Fan expo he said he just like's doing things differently. This I respect from an artist.

This year J. Scott decided to release 2 sketchbooks. A Horizontal and a Vertical version. Volume 1 is the horizontal version. All the art inside this sketchbook is a double page horizontal spread. Double page spreads really make the art come together and it helps focus on the subject page. It's a great idea since this is a sketchbook and the only story being told is through the art.

So here it is. Folks do not adjust the colour on your monitors. These sketchbook pages do have a slight tint of purple on the pages. That's all part of the creativity from Campbell. This is definitely a great sketchbook and a must add to the collection, it's full of art that is fully penciled with draft work around the borders. The draft work is an interesting contrast between the finished pencils, it really shows the thought process of how campbell got to the final finished pencil. Each page really tells a story about the art and the thought process. Enjoy this review and leave us your thoughts.

Don't forget to click on the images to enlarge them. Also make sure to leave a comment on your thoughts about this sketchbook.
